Work after graduation

Upon graduating from your university or vocational course, if you wish to live and work in Tasmania you could be eligible to apply for a Temporary Graduate visa (subclass 485).

The advantage when studying in Tasmania is that you maybe be eligible to stay additional years through the Post-Study Work Stream (subclass 485).

Unlike other major cities, Tasmania is considered a regional area and therefore depending on your qualification and which city you have studied and resided in you could stay up to an additional one-two years.

For students on a Temporary Graduate Visa (subclass 485) who have graduated with a higher education degree of post-graduate qualification and resided in Tasmania for the duration of their visa, you could be eligible for a second Temporary Graduate visa of an additional one or two years. For example, if you study in Hobart you may be eligible for an extra one year. If you study in Launceston you may be eligible for an extra two years. If you have Hong Kong passport, you can also stay up to 5 years.
