University of Tasmania Student Accommodation

You can be part of a vibrant student community and enjoy the convenience of student accommodation while studying at the University of Tasmania.

With many different types of on-campus and off-campus accommodation available throughout Tasmania, you can choose to live where and how you want while you study.

TasTAFE accommodation

TasTAFE also has a limited number of residential arrangements for international students. You can stay at any TasTAFE accommodation for roughly $160 a week.

Homestay program - Government schools and TasTAFE

Available to students at any age or study level, a homestay gives you the opportunity to live an authentic local experience with a Tasmanian family. You can also improve your English skills and live the real Australian lifestyle by staying with a homestay host.

Temporary Accommodation Support

Australian Sovereign College

T.A.S. (Temporary Accommodation Support) aims to support international students to temporarily settle in Tasmania for the first 5-10 days (Maximum 10 days) and have enough time to check and take lease of their long-term accommodation since it’s becoming increasingly hard to find rental properties locally. Australian Sovereign College works with multiple local motels & hotels relieving the stress and struggle of finding a home for international students with the most affordable options.

Boarding school

Many Tasmanian Independent Schools offer boarding facilities for students aged under 18. Boarding gives you the opportunity to live in a safe, structured environment with a mix of other students from Australia and the rest of the world.

Rental

Another option for international students, is renting a flat or house. Students can rent a room, their own flat, or rent a house together with other students, known in Australia as ‘housemates’.
