Study Tasmania International Education

We celebrated the Tasmanian international education sector and international student achievements at the 2023 Study Tasmania International Education Awards on Monday, 20 November 2023.

Congratulation to the 2023 Study Tasmania International Education Award winners:

  • Geethu Baby - International Student of the Year - University
  • Qi Zhan - International Student of the Year -Vocational Education
  • Lac Khang (Harry) Le - International Student of the Year for -School/Secondary College
  • Aaron Zheng Kwan - International Student Alumna/Alumnus of the Year
  • Angie Wu - International Education Teacher/Staff of the Year
  • Judith and David Legg - Homestay Host of the Year
  • The Australian International Youth Association - Industry Partner of the Year
  • Malaysian Students’ Society Tasmania - Community Spirit Award of the Year

Study Tasmania International Education Awards is a significant recognition and celebratory event for international students, staff, homestay family hosts and industry partners that have contributed to the Tasmanian international education sector. All finalists will be invited to an event that will be held in Hobart in November 2023.

Self-nomination is not permitted. Multiple nominations for a candidate do not guarantee the candidate will be shortlisted as a Finalist.

The following awards will be presented at the event.

International Student of the Year: awarded to a student who exhibits outstanding academic skills, other talents and achievements to serve as a role model in Tasmania.

International Student Alumna/Alumnus of the Year: awarded to a graduate for their character, service, outstanding contributions, and academic achievement.

International Education Teacher/Staff of the Year: awarded to a staff member who displays an exceptional commitment to enhance the study and living experience, and future aspirations of Tasmanian international students.

Homestay Host of the Year: awarded to a homestay host who has contributed to make Tasmania an inclusive and positive study destination for international students.

Community Spirit Award of the Year: awarded to an individual or organisation who has demonstrated an inspirational level of commitment that adds value to the community.

Industry Partner of the Year: awarded to an industry partner who has made significant contribution to enhance the employment and employability of international students in Tasmania.
