If you ever need someone to chat with, explore Tasmania with, or bring baked snacks to a study session, I’m your person!

Alaya Sultana
I’m Alaya from Dhaka, Bangladesh, though I grew up in Saudi Arabia, and I’m currently studying a Master of Professional Accounting at the University of Tasmania.
My experiences living in different countries and travelling has made me adaptable and open to diverse cultures.
One of the things I love most about Australia is its multicultural and multilingual environment, where people from all backgrounds live together with respect and openness.
From the moment I arrived in Tasmania, I felt warmth and immediate comfort. Even though I am thousands of miles from home, I haven’t felt homesick once.
My advice to future students is simple: embrace everything Tasmania offers.

Like many people who come to Tasmania, I was blown away by the scenery.
I was shocked by how quickly I grew to love Tasmania and now want to use that passion for other international students.
As someone who knows the challenges of starting a life in a new country, I want to support other students to settle in and feel at home.
As an ambassador, I want to show students that Tasmania is more than a study destination, it is a place where you can find community.

Studying abroad was one of the bravest and smartest decisions I’ve ever made. Studying abroad can be challenging, but it is also something I will remember for a lifetime.
Tasmania is a unique place where the whole island feels like your campus. I’ve loved exploring local markets, festivals and even witnessing the aurora.
If you’re nervous about studying here, don’t be! Join activities, attend festivals and volunteer, you won’t regret opening your heart to new experiences.

Zihao (Gavin) Guo
My name is Gavin and I’m from China, studying Master of Professional Accounting at the University of Tasmania.
I enjoy living in Tasmania for many reasons, especially the outdoors. Here, I can experience beautiful coastlines, peaceful bays and distant mountains all in one place!
On campus, I am surrounded by green lawns, colourful flowers and an abundance of wildlife.
It is common to see rabbits, ducks, parrots and even wallabies while walking between classes, which makes the university experience feel close to nature and full of life.
Beyond the scenery, what makes Tasmania special is the people. People here are warm, respectful and always willing to help.
