By plane

Tasmania is serviced by commercial airlines, with multiple flights coming to the island daily, mainly to the key airports of Hobart and Launceston. There are direct flights to Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, Perth, Canberra and the Gold Coast.

By boat

The Spirit of Tasmania ferries travel daily between Devonport and Melbourne and each crossing carries over 1 400 passengers.

This option allows passengers to bring their cars and enjoy the bars, restaurants, and cinemas on the ferry. There are also plenty of activities for children including a kid’s play area, game zone and daytime entertainment during school holidays. The journey usually takes nine hours.
