Fresh food markets
Every weekend around Tasmania, harvest markets are held where producers sell their quality fresh food and drink directly to the public. These markets also feature stalls selling delicious food from all over the world, many run by or employing international students. While some Tasmanians come to the markets to shop, many attend for the atmosphere and to simply socialise with friends and celebrate the produce of the island.
The Farm Gate Market takes place on Sunday mornings. In the north of Tasmania, the Harvest Market in Launceston, which has been awarded Australia’s most outstanding farmers market, is the place to go for the freshest seasonal food.
